This years event was held at the Le Fevre Community Centre just out of Adelaide City. The venue was functional but the playing conditions and associated facilities for the players and spectators were at times very difficult. The players have done well to still play some great darts during the week.
This year we had self contained rooms at Semaphore Blue Apartments , these were in a great location and had many options for the players and officials at the end of a long day of darts. A nice spot to come for a holiday in the future.
The men as a playing group cannot be faulted, again we were written off by many prior to leaving but the players had other opinions and the desire to succeed that was very evident from the outset. I am very humble by the manner in which the playing group managed themselves and displayed outstanding team spirit and camaraderie. Gary and Keith had no opportunity in the teams event and took well the reason for the decision with great dignity, this made it more the harder for me as the captain.
The silky-smooth running of the team is in no small part to the role that the Team Manager plays and Glen McLeod in his 2nd championship again showed his organisational are at a very high level. A very proficient approach was displayed by Glen and showed through in how we again managed as a team.

Men’s Rookie at the Australian Championships went to Conan “The Destroyer” Ugle a very much deserved recognition as “Rookie” 2014.
Again our support crew of Peg Morton and Patsy Howard supported us to the hilt, as usual they were a treat to have around and the men’s team appreciated their invaluable support, thanks girls and look forward to your support again in 2015
Good to have Ijah Coyle over too see how it works and assist when needed. Also thanks to JIm and Shirley Lynn who followed our games with interest & Phil Ugle.
This year again it is the rebuilding of the WA Men and they all handled themselves in a team orientated manner and demonstrated their ability both on and off the board. I Look forward to Perth in 2015 where Glen and I hope to continue the development and regrowth which will again lead the rise of WA Men’s darts in the National Championships.
